Manual Component Tools Overview

Linear Component Tools:

  • Line Tool: Measures straight distances between two points.
  • Polyline Tool: Measures the cumulative length over multiple points.
  • Arc Tool:

Area Component Tools:

  • Rectangle Tool: Measures rectangular areas.
  • Polygon Tool: Measures areas with irregular shapes.

Count Tools:

Taking Linear Components:

  1. Select the Line Tool: Click on the "Line" icon in the toolbar.
  1. Start Component: Click on the starting point on the plan.
  1. Option for Arc. Hold A
  1. End Component: Click on the end point.
  1. The Component’s calculated length.
  1. Name and Categorize: Enter a name for the component. Assign it to a layer or category.

Measuring Areas:

  1. Select the Polygon Tool: Click on the “Polygon” icon. Double-click to close the shape and complete the component.
  1. Input Details: Name the area Component. Assign it to a layer or category.

Counting Items:

  1. Select the Count Tool: Click on the "Count" icon.
  1. Identify Items: Click on each instance of the item on the plan. Each click increments the count.
  1. Finalize Count: The total count is displayed. Name the count Component and assign it accordingly.

Measuring Volumes:

  1. Measure Area: Use the Polygon Tool to define the base area.
  1. Apply Depth: In theComponent Panel, enter the depth or height.
  1. Calculate Volume: The software calculates the volume automatically.

Managing Components:

  1. Create New Layers: In the Layers panel, click "Add Layer". Name the layer (e.g., "Framing", "HVAC").
  1. Assign Components to Layers: When creating a Component, select the desired layer.
  1. Toggle Layer Visibility Check or uncheck layers to show or hide associated Components.

Editing Components:

  1. Modify Component Points: Select the Component. Drag points to adjust as needed.
  1. Change items: In the Component Panel, edit the name, layer, or other attributes.
  1. Delete Components: Select the Component and press Delete.

Copying & Pasting Components:

  1. Copy Component: Right-click on a Component and select "Copy".
  1. Paste Component: Right-click on the desired location and select "Paste".

Annotations and Markups:

Adding Annotations:

  • Text Annotations: Use the "Text" tool to add notes directly onto the plan.
  • Highlighting Areas: Use the "Cloud" or "Highlighter" tools to emphasize regions.
  • Arrows and Symbols: Add arrows to point out specific details.

Managing Annotations:

  • Edit Annotations: Click on an annotation to edit its content or items.
  • Delete Annotations: Select and press Delete or right-click and choose "Delete".
  • Organize with Layers: Assign annotations to layers for better organization. Hid/Show Layers

Signature Blocks:

  • Import components or blocks of components from your database or a TrueBuilt database to start takeoff.
    • Access via the TB menu in the upper left.

Real-Time Collaboration:

Simultaneous Editing:

  • Multiple users can work on the same plan concurrently.
  • Lead Estimator Assigned at Project Creation has full permissions

Live Updates:

  • Changes are visible to all team members in real-time.

Commenting & Discussions:

  • Add Comments: Right-click on a Component or plan area and select "Add Comment".
  • Reply to Comments: Engage in discussions directly within the plan.
  • Notifications: Receive alerts when comments are added or replied to.
